Independent record label and artist collective Music Sounds Records is thrilled to announce the release of their self-produced 12-song Christmas compilation featuring talented artists from their roster. To celebrate this festive musical offering, they will host a special event, "Music Sounds Like Christmas: LIVE!" at Crescent Ballroom on Saturday, December 23.

The album, set to release on Friday, November 24, captures the spirit of the holidays with a diverse and spirited collection of songs that showcase the unique talents of the Phoenix music scene. From soulful renditions of classics to original compositions, the compilation promises to be a lively addition to the holiday music landscape.

As part of their commitment to community engagement, Music Sounds Records will donate a portion of the event's ticket sales to Palabras Bilingual Bookstore. Attendees are also encouraged to bring young adult fiction and graphic novels for donation to Books for Incarcerated Youth, contributing to literacy programs for young people.

Artists

Pijama Piyama

A vibrant six-piece band, Pijama Piyama brings together diverse influences from their cultural upbringing in Phoenix, Arizona, as well as inspirations from cumbia, salsa, jazz, video games, Frank Zappa, and psychedelia. Their recent album, Pijama Piyama y Los Niños De Rana, uses an exciting mix of Latin influences and synthetic textures in whimsical, imaginative world-building.

Alex and the Moondaze

Alex & The Moondaze is a band of multi-instrumentalists and longtime real-life friends led by songwriter Alex Tighe. Their sound carries an influence of mid-century cosmic American music and spiritual mysticism. Their latest album, VISTA, combines elements from multiple genres, including soul, R&B, psychedelia, and folk rock.

Herbert Walker

Herbert Walker is a Phoenix-based quintet that merges alt-rock, jazz, pop, and freak folk elements. Since forming in 2016, the band’s willingness to explore has resulted in their 2022 album, How to Enjoy, recorded at Oracle Recording Studio, exercising their freedom with style while keeping their introspective songwriting at the center of what they do.

Zane Champion

Phoenix musician Zane Champion blends rock, retro pop, R&B, country, and world influences with clever, laid-back songwriting. Building on the foundation laid in his former project Big Affection, Champion’s upcoming debut album, BURMA RADIO, recorded at Oracle Recording Studio, is the exciting statement of an emerging artist using everything at his disposal.
