Party with giant dancing puppets and Cucui trouble makers, for a historical Zúm Zúm Zúm reunion fundraiser concert and album release fiesta that features a musical line-up of global rhythms from some of the Valleys most popular bands!

Audiences will be the first to hear Zarco’s new record debuting in October, produced by Sergio Mendoza. A Valley favorite in the 80s and 90s, the legendary Zúm Zúm Zúm was known for their high energy samba/batucadas, spicy salsa, reggae and cumbias. Opening the night with the vibrant DJ Sunny Z and closing the evening is QVLN with his blue electric violin playing his own brand of world music.

The night will also feature local band Enparoxismo, an English/Spanish musical project with experimental Latin Rock and colorful characters in costumes that mix Aztec with punk fashions. Followed by longtime Valley favorite Power Drive, a 7-piece bi-lingual and bi-cultural band that mixes contemporary pop and Latin music. Bring your dancing shoes!

This one-night only concert benefits local non-profit Cultural Coalition and the work we do with Chicano, Indigenous, and BIPOC artists, including our free daily after school arts programs provided to underserved youth in the Valley.

The further you dig into QVLN’s continually evolving music catalog and expanding international presence, the more you understand why he’s considered a Global Music artist by those who know his music best. With his genre-less approach to music creation and curated collaborations, QVLN has been able to make notable inroads in various music scenes Globally. This has also led to a growing BIPOC social community in which you’ll find Artists, Creatives, Yogis, Capoeiristas, Digital Artists, music enthusiasts, Social Justice Advocates, Environmentalists & overall good people from just about every continent.

 

Most notably, QVLN has had several successful House Music releases, including "Queimar", a single he released with long-time creative partner & friend OVEOUS, which reached Number 1 on the Traxsource Afrohouse chart, & has over 2 million streams on Spotify. “Periodico De Ayer”, a house rendition of Hector Lavoe’s classic, another one of Q’s House Music collaborations with DJ/Producer Hallex M was featured on Spotify’s own Soulful House playlist.

In 2021 QVLN was featured in two songs with Las Cafeteras, a Cumbia remix of Ray Charles’ “Georgia On My Mind” for Stacey Abrams’ New Georgia Project. The video (seen below) was reposted by Bernie Sander’s official Instagram account with over 280K views and received over 100k views on the Las Cafeteras YouTube channel. QVLN was also featured in “If I Was President (Remix)”, a follow-up Las Cafeteras song that featured 5 artists, 4 cities, and 3 Swing states coming together to elevate a collective vision of America that represents Black, Indigenous, working people of color who changed the direction of the country.

DJ Sunny Z

This dynamic husband and wife duo is led by multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer Quetzal Guerrero also known as QVLN (Q-Violin) and supported by the vibrant sound selector Sunshine Zerda aka DJ Sunny Z. Together they are at the forefront of music genre evolution and exploration. Their sound encompasses the Afro diasporic rhythms of the Western hemisphere combined with electronic Global Bass elements. This creative couple seeks to uplift and inspire listeners with their musical diversity and positive message as well as incorporating community engagement.
 
Since very early childhood, QVLN has lived, studied and performed all over the world. His musical education has spanned from the Institute of Suzuki in Matsumoto, Japan to the Capoeira rodas of Recife, Brazil and most recently the Nada Yoga School in Rishikesh, India. His discography includes several full length albums of original compositions along with multiple features and collaborations with artists from across the globe. QVLN has also had the opportunity to be a musical ambassador for the American Music Abroad program that toured throughout Latin America 2015 - 2016 and serves as a prime example for how music can unite cultures and communities globally.
 
Sunshine’s musical journey began in her adolescent years. Growing up in South San Francisco, she was part of a vibrant music and dance community. Having traveled throughout her childhood to the Philippines and Europe, she was exposed to many cultures and customs which helped her to develop an eclectic ear for music. After graduating high school she moved to Southern California to go to college, it was during this era that she cultivated her passion as a music curator. A few years later a mutual friend introduced her to QVLN and they soon began producing events together, playing multiple-genre-spanning sets and opening up the audiences’ ears to a diverse plethora of sounds.
 
Since joining forces, QVLN and Sunny Z have had amazing opportunities from studying sound healing in India to performing abroad in countries Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Morocco, Australia and Indonesia. Their passion for connecting communities through music has led to an ever evolving journey of cultural enrichment and spiritual enlightenment. When you experience the energy between these two souls and the vibrations they emit you will be filled with love and light.
