CLASSIC CUBA with CALEB MICHEL & TRIO LOS CUBICHIS
Caleb Michel and his Trio Los Cubichis will be taking the audience on a journey through the old world of traditional Bolero and Danzon including classics by composers such as Ernesto Lecuona, Tito Rodriguez, Placido Domingo, and many more. Trio Los Cubichis will be combining aspects of tradition with the inspiring sound of contemporary musicians.

Caleb Michel is a Dominican, jazz and latin jazz percussionist based in Phoenix, Arizona. He has studied and performed a wide variety of music ranging from Puerto Rican salsa, Cuban son, Dominican merengue, and South American derived rhythms, to American Jazz and contemporary jazz. Caleb started studying percussion at the age of six with daily lessons from his father Alex Michel, a former percussionist of New York City. Being raised in a musical atmosphere and having studied classical literature on the string bass for five years at the renowned Arizona School for the Arts, Caleb naturally found a passion in music. He is pursuing a degree in jazz performance at Arizona State University while continuing a rigorous curriculum in Latin American rhythms and percussion. Caleb has performed with many traveling artists such as Tito Puente Jr., Frankie Negron, Ismael Rivera Jr., Tito Rojas, Frankie Ruiz Jr., and Raulin Rosendo among many others. With a jazz combo from Scottsdale Community College, Caleb performed at the Reno Jazz Festival, sharing the stage with Donny McCaslin, the San Francisco Jazz Collective, and many others. While studying for his undergraduate degree at ASU, he was presented the opportunity to travel with the historic band The Afro-Cuban All Stars under the tutelage of Juan de Marcos Gonzàlez. With The Afro-Cuban All Stars he has traveled the United States and played at venues such as the Jazz Alley in Seattle, San Fransisco Jazz Center, and the Playboy Jazz Festival, the Dakota Jazz Club, and many more. Caleb Michel has built and continues to build a career in music with the hopes of playing with many great musicians.
